With a decade of experience managing development teams and consulting on technology, Bahman Zakeri provides businesses with valued perspective on how to use the web to promote growth. A dedicated advocate and avid user of online technologies, Bahman has built a successful career seamlessly bridging business and technology to generate measurable results for the clients he serves.
In 2006, Clotho Advanced Media called upon Bahman’s expertise in working with offshore programming talent. Established in 1996, the once reputable firm was struggling financially and needed overhaul of its business model. Bahman strategically implemented changes to reinvigorate the firm. He quickly reorganized Clotho around the international development teams he had previously established and equipped Clotho to pursue larger projects that exceeded their in-house capacity.
This initial endeavor paid handsome dividends as it aided Clotho in landing lucrative projects for highly visible companies, such as MasterCraft Boat Company and Aprilaire. Seeing the opportunity to establish excellence throughout the firm, Bahman set about streamlining the project management processes and leveraging his results-driven management skills to build a stronger Clotho. In January of 2007, Bahman partnered with another Clotho executive to acquire the firm and became its Chief Operating Officer.
Since the reorganization of Clotho, the firm has accrued an impressive project portfolio that demonstrates Bahman’s skill in deploying offshore teams with uncommon professionalism and impressive results. With development resources located in Romania, Russia and Ukraine, matched with project management, application architecture and design located in Madison, working with clients throughout the country, Clotho became a model for the effectiveness of global collaboration.
Among the successes is a rapid redeploy of Research Product's AprilaireeStore . Within two months Clotho designed and implemented a full eCommerce platform complete with warehouse fulfillment systems and shipping to support automated order tracking functions. The AprilaireeStore now generates an estimated $2 million a year in revenue at a much higher rate of profitability than their previous arrangement.
As a testament to Clotho’s reemergence, the firm developed and launched an enterprise-class website for the MasterCraft Boat Company to
rave reviews. The web site won several awards, including the coveted Best Website in the Marine Industry award, announced at the Miami
International Boat Show in 2007.
Prior to acquiring Clotho, Bahman founded Xivic, LLC in 1998 to build and manage international development teams. The idea of web experts collaborating from all four corners of the globe was as innovative as the resulting solutions Xivic brought to the advertising agencies and academic institutions it was serving.
This included the University of Wisconsin, where in 2000 the University partnered with Xivic to implement some of its most pioneering online education technologies. Xivic’s work, and ultimately Bahman’s consultation as an Academic Application Specialist for the University, formed the foundation for several innovative online learning programs— including South Asia Studies for the Department of Languages and Cultures of Asia, and award-winning French and Italian Renaissance Literature for the Department of French and Italian.
Bahman is a resolute, innovative thinker who relishes the excitement of a challenge, and the gratification that comes with engineering something new.
In 2005, Bahman parlayed Xivic’s development resources to co-found 3x5 Software.
3x5’s primary focus was on creating the product, Brief, a multi-platform presentation authoring tool designed to be a more flexible alternative to Microsoft’s PowerPoint, with the goal of enabling users to create web-sharable, interactive presentations. At the time, this approach to leveraging the web to deliver business software was nascent, but has since exploded as a standard for online business models.
During Xivic’s growth and prior to directing Clotho, Bahman held various technology consulting positions at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and University of California Los Angeles.
